Terms of service.
Overview
By booking services with Haven Doula Services, you acknowledge and agree to the following Terms of Service. These terms are designed to create clarity, mutual respect, and a supportive working relationship.
Scope of Doula Services
Doula support is non-medical and does not replace care from licensed medical providers. Services may include emotional, physical, informational, and spiritual support during pregnancy, labor, birth, and/or postpartum, depending on the package selected.
Doulas do not perform clinical tasks, diagnose conditions, give medical advice, or make decisions on behalf of clients. All medical care and decisions remain the responsibility of the client and their healthcare provider.
Client Responsibilities
Clients agree to:
Maintain primary care with a licensed healthcare provider
Communicate openly and honestly about needs, concerns, and changes
Inform the doula of labor onset or schedule changes in a timely manner
Treat the doula with respect and professionalism
Failure to maintain respectful communication may result in termination of services.
Payment & Fees
A signed contract and deposit are required to secure services
Remaining balances must be paid according to the agreed payment schedule
Payment plans may be available upon request
Fees are non-refundable once services have begun, except as outlined in the contract
Cancellation & Termination
Client-Initiated Cancellation:
If services are canceled by the client, refunds (if any) will follow the terms outlined in the individual service agreement.
Doula-Initiated Termination:
The doula reserves the right to terminate services if:
There is a breach of contract
Unsafe, abusive, or inappropriate behavior occurs
The scope of care exceeds non-medical support
In such cases, unused services may be refunded at the doula’s discretion.
Backup Doula Policy
In the event of illness, emergency, or circumstances beyond control, a backup doula may be provided when possible. While continuity of care is a priority, backup availability is not guaranteed.
On-Call Availability
For birth services, on-call availability typically begins around 38 weeks of pregnancy unless otherwise agreed upon. Clients are responsible for notifying the doula when labor begins.
Postpartum Care
Postpartum services are scheduled in advance and subject to availability. Hours, tasks, and boundaries will be discussed prior to care. Doulas do not provide medical, mental health, or clinical infant care.
Confidentiality
All personal and medical information shared will remain confidential and will not be disclosed without written consent, except where required by law.
Photography & Testimonials (Optional Section)
Any photos, testimonials, or written feedback shared publicly will only be used with explicit written permission from the client.
Liability
By engaging doula services, the client releases Haven Doula Services from liability related to medical outcomes, decisions, or care provided by healthcare professionals.
